Maps are how I make complex places understandable.

I am a geomatics engineer working at the intersection of spatial data, community knowledge, and practical technology. My work moves between database architecture, WebGIS, OpenStreetMap, UAV imagery, LiDAR, remote sensing, and the people who use those systems.

Today I lead the mapping department at Gallimaps, contribute to open geospatial infrastructure with OSGeo Nepal, and continue growing a global community of open mappers through training and mentorship.

Drone-based damage and needs assessment

Three intensive days working with DJI Matrice 350 RTK platforms, P1 and L2 sensors, and the DJI Air 3S. The training connected flight operations and geospatial data collection directly to faster, better-informed disaster response.

Map, snap, repeat at Far Western University

Facilitated a two-day Mapillary training with YouthMappers FWU under Women in Open Mapping: Asia Navigators. Students moved from learning the platform to creating meaningful street-level data and stepping into the open mapping community.

Documenting heritage in three dimensions

At CIPA Nepal Heritage School in Pokhara, I followed the complete heritage-documentation workflow using TLS and SLAM LiDAR, UAVs, DSLR photogrammetry, FARO Scene, Agisoft Metashape, and CloudCompare. The scholarship experience strengthened both my technical practice and my commitment to preserving Nepal’s cultural heritage.

State of the Map 2025, Manila

Joined the global OpenStreetMap community to exchange ideas, host sessions, present my poster, and celebrate HOT’s fifteenth anniversary. It was a vivid reminder that open mapping is powered as much by relationships as it is by data.

Deep learning foundations

Studied neural networks, activation functions, and backpropagation to extend machine-learning thinking into spatial pattern recognition and image-based geospatial analysis.

Intermediate Python

Strengthened core Python fluency for more complex data processing, automation, and geospatial development work.

Leading Mapping KU

Led an OpenStreetMap session during an ILIKA and GES collaboration, followed by hands-on community mapping. The event translated curiosity into practical contributions to open geospatial data.

Transforming navigation through innovation

A smart-routing web application exploring how pathfinding, multiple data sources, and thoughtful map interfaces can create a clearer navigation experience.

Completed the 2024 fellowship by mapping critical features for climate resilience, disaster preparedness, and sustainable development across the Asia-Pacific region.

New Colombo Plan survey practical

Worked with Topcon survey-processing software and LiDAR technology through a collaborative program involving Kathmandu University, LMTC, and the University of Southern Queensland.

Building community at GeoFest

Helped bring together a team around geospatial innovation, climate action, digital governance, sustainable cities, and disaster-risk reduction through Women in Geospatial Nepal.

Built a lightweight HTML, CSS, and JavaScript tool that turns field observations into traverse computations, closing error, and linear accuracy without a complex workbook.

102 hours mapping vulnerable communities

Received Youth Innovation Lab’s OSM Grant Supporting Women Leaders and contributed 102 hours mapping and validating buildings, roads, rivers, open spaces, and other essential infrastructure in at-risk areas of Nepal.

Utility Web Map for Dhulikhel

Team Analytica placed second with an accessible utility map for the 28 Kilo area. I helped build interactive layers and popups, identify infrastructure gaps, and develop a suitability view for transformer malfunction planning.

Two days from OSM fundamentals to web maps

Trained participants across the open mapping workflow, including OpenStreetMap, JOSM, Overpass Turbo, and uMap, with community partners across Nepal and the Asia-Pacific region.

Maps as a new language for young minds

Introduced Grade 9 and 10 students at Bal Vidhya Mandir Secondary School to how maps are made, read, and used to understand the world around them.

Capturing ideas at the University Scholar Conference

Served as rapporteur during two days of engineering, technology, and innovation discussions hosted by AMES at Kathmandu University.

Empowering women in geospatial technology

Completed four days of blended training in GIS, remote sensing, land-cover analysis, data visualization, and disaster preparedness with SERVIR, ICIMOD, NASA, and USAID.

Where competitive mapping began

My first hackathon ended with Team Thoplo securing first runner-up for a field-mapping task-splitting algorithm. Two demanding days with NAXA, Kathmandu Living Labs, NGES, and HOT turned hard work into an early lesson in collaboration and geospatial problem-solving.
